Information

I have been making a lot of Christmas-themed decorations recently and this is my latest design. It is a 2 layer bauble design that can be personalised with a custom name or message.

Step1: Design

The front part of this design was made by first making the bauble outline by using circles and the combine feature to add the hole for hanging at the top. Then the snowflakes were also added using the combine feature.

The back part is simply a circle with text for engraving. You can exit this text with a custom name or message to make it more personal.

If you do edit the text, you can place be blue snowflake layer over the red circle layer to check that the text will not be covered when the two layers are glued together.

Step2: Materials

I used 4mm cherry veneered MDF for the back layer and 1.6mm white on black laminated acrylic for the front layer. If you do not have these materials you can use any kind of acrylic or wood to get a similar effect.

Step3: Cutting settings

These are the settings for cutting the materials mentioned above using the xTool D1 Pro 5w laser.

4

Step4: Engraving settings

These settings will vary depending on your material and machines being used.

Step5: Glueing

Now that you have both parts cut out and engraved, you will need to glue the two pieces together. You should used a glue that is suitable for both wood and acrylic.
