Engrave your design on a custom phone case. The design here is for a Samsung S22 but can be modified to fit any phone case. Phone cases are available for iphone, samsung, and pixel phones. (Perhaps others).
I purchased a wood veneer case. There are several available on Amazon. My case is a Carveit case in rosewood.
I have used clipart for this design. My spouse wanted a hummingbird so I used that image.
The case is very lightweight so it can easily be moved even by the fans and blowers on the machine. So I use the magnetic hold down devices on my honeycomb.
Position the case and move the laser by hand to be sure the red lines are parallel to the case. In my case, I want the wings of the hummingbird to be 30 mm from the top of the case, so that is where I position my starting point.
Of course the settings used here may be adjusted. If you are not sure, then set the power lower and if the image is not dark enough just run the project a second time. (Obviously do not move the laser head by hand between runs.)
The engraving needs to be cleaned. I use the brush on my shopvac to remove the debri from engraving.
This step may be viewed as optional. I like to darken the engraving to make it stand out. To do this I put a dab of a medium dark stain on my gloved finger and rub it into the image. Let it sit for a few minutes and wipe it with a cloth.
Snap the case on your phone and you will now be able to recognize your phone from all the others!
