Step1

(Each image and vector are their own layer colors)

  • Upload project into XCS (file size is premade to fit in the M1 Ultra working area
  • The bottom layer (circle) should be printed at 90% intensity.
    • XCS defaults to laser mode, switch it to inkjet printing at the top
    • After printing, swap the module for the laser and switch to laser mode
    • Measure the distance on a stable part of the wood with the crosshairs
    • **TIP: to ensure your cut line lines up with the print, try setting your laser to 10% power and 40 speed to burn a very light outline. This way you can see if your cut lines up properly before cutting at full strength.
    • Cut at 100/5/1 (unless you have a better, tested power combo already)
    • Soot can be wiped off with a microfiber cloth, paper towel, or blue painter's tape.
    • After laser cutting, switch back to your ink module and switch mode back to inkjet printing.
  • The middle layer should also be printed at 90% intensity.
    • Repeat process of lining up your cuts at a lower power before cutting with at full strength. This is not necessary, but rather a good practice until you get a feel for how XCS lines everything up.
  • The top layer should be cut on plain basswood with the same power as the others, and painted afterwards. This way you can save any scraps if desired. You can also choose to cut black acrylic for the top layer for shine.

To adhere the layers together, use an adhesive of your choice. You can use glue dots, hot glue, wood glue, crazy glue, etc. I use 2P10 which is akin to crazy glue, use sparingly so it doesn't squish out. After putting the layers together you can glue string or twine to the back to hang, use thumbtacks, command hooks, or velcro, anything you choose to hang your wreath.

Enjoy!
