For aromatherapy workshops, I was asked to make coasters on which a candle and a simple tin can with holes could be used to make ointments.
The design can be done directly in XTool Creative Space. The two images show the corresponding work steps:
The wood can be engraved and cut with the above settings. Of course, the settings for cutting must be adjusted accordingly depending on the thickness of the wooden panel.
After I had made the parts, I had the idea that I could engrave a recess for the tealight (the candle) to prevent it from slipping.
I therefore added a second XCS file that engraves a circle about 1 mm deep on the coaster.
To insert this yourself afterwards, simply insert a circle and edit it with “Flat engraving”. The additional settings for this can be seen above.
To be able to use the coaster now, an empty and cleaned tin can (without leftover paper!) must be provided with holes at the top and bottom so that the candle does not go out.
To use it, place a jar on the tin, fill it with beeswax and other ingredients for an ointment, for example, and heat it over the candle.
Have fun making and using it!
