This pencil storage tub is made from a total of three parts, top, bottom, and one piece for the sides that is flexible at all four corners. The tub pictured is made from 3mm black MDF and you will need a piece of material that is roughly 200x200mm or larger to complete this project.
The design of this pencil holder uses flexible living hinges on each corner meaning all 4 sides are a single piece that then slot into the top and bottom.
All parts should be cut from 3mm thick material and I would recommend a small amount of glue for a little extra strength.
These are the settings used to cut 3mm MDF using the xTool D1 Pro 5w laser.
For more powerful lasers you can reduce the number of passes or increase the speed.
Assembling this pencil pot should only take a few minutes as all parts should easily slot together.
