create an oval circle as with the blue circle
here make an outline of 5mm
connect both with the function make compound vector
copy the circle 2x and 
place it offset to the left and right of it as with the orange circles
repeat this again as well as with the green circles

i think a good hint is that beautiful designs are not uniformly straight designs
it looks symmetrical but on closer inspection you realize that it is not and that makes a nicer impression 

copy all circles several times 
and always select both overlapping ones and choose substract
this will remove the part of the circle that is too much 

making the stem is easy and simple using only the path tool

a little trial and error 
here too, odd lines are more beautiful

the red dot is a hole that you make in the stem 

lastly, put everything together and select unite

a text will be added that can overlap a bit

i painted the pumpkin with stain
the lettering with a white color

Finally, I coated both with a gloss varnish

stick the lettering on the pumpkin
