We wanted to create a fun and eco-friendly way to play with Play-Doh! This beautifully designed board uses natural wood to align with Montessori principles, encouraging hands-on learning and creativity. Our kids can explore their culinary imaginations while creating perfectly shaped sandwich and burger ingredients—think crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and delicious patties—while engaging in sensory play. The tactile experience of molding with Play-Doh alongside the warm, natural textures of wood fosters a deeper connection to the materials they use. This board isn’t just about fun; it promotes fine motor skills and imaginative thinking, making it a wonderful gift for the little ones in your life 🍔🌿✨
For this project, you can either process each layer individually using a honeycomb bed or process both using the conveyor feeder.
Using a 5mm MDF board cut/engrave/score the boards labeled “Middle Layer” & “Bottom Layer”
For the Middle Layer make sure to keep the extra pieces from the tomato and cheese designs, you will need to glue them to the Bottom Layer. (Step 5)
Using 5mm Okoume Plywood cut/engrave the board labeled “Top Layer”.
We recommend using 5mm Okoume Plywood for the utensil's handles and 5mm MDF board for the utensil body, this will make them look more aesthetically pleasing.
Using kid-safe acrylic paint decorate the Middle Layer, Bottom Layer, and the extra pieces for the tomato and cheese. Don't worry about painting outside the line, the Top Layer will make it look clean.
For the Bottom Layer try using small amounts of paint so it does not sink into the engravings. You can use a sponge or a roller to make this step easier.
Using the scored designs on the Bottom Layer align and glue the tomato and cheese center pieces.
Carefully align all the layers and glue them together. Make sure to place them in order
Also, align the utensil's handle and body and glue it together.
We recommend a strong adhesive such as Gorilla glue and let it fully dry before attempting to play with it.
Have fun!
