I needed a new clock in my studio, and I wanted one that would make me smile each time I looked at it. So I designed this clock. The patriotic river otters are on the clock because otters always look like they are having fun. The propeller beanie wearing alligators are to honor Maurice Sendak. The turtles are holding up the entire time/space continuum because it's turtles all the way down.
Down load the xcs file and engrave.
Note: to design the clock face, I first sketched the animals. Then I traced the in ink and scanned them into the computer. The clock numbers were taken from Adobe Commons images and the decorative border and Victorian heart from assorted dingbats. The clock images were assembled using Silhouette Studio software and converted to a .svg file using Ideas R Us converter software.
Depending on your clock movement drill the appropriate sized hole centered between the 12/6 and 3/9. Mount the movement per the instructions that came with it.
Note, my upcycled movement had no mounting hardware, so I hot glued it to the back of the clock.
If your clock movement came with a hanger, you are done.
If you need a hanger, drill a small hole through each of the two blocks. Offset the hole toward an upper right hand corner. Insert a piece of piano wire through the blocks, and make a 90 degree bend at each end. Glue the blocks onto the clock back about an inch from the top edge.
