A set of interlocking keychains for you and your best friend! Tons on BF finger fun to be had! The integrated magnets are not necessary for the interaction, and they can absolutely still be built without the tiny buggers. (3mm x 1mm neodymium circles!) Magnets can be easily ordered online for around 6 dollars. Google “3x1mm magnets” and you'll find the ones you need.
Secure your board in some manner!
A corner alignment works (I use this, but it is fiddly), taped or held down is best.
Cut the green and black areas first, followed by cutting out all the red outlines.
You do not need to cut the black layer unless you have the required magnets.
Once the cut is complete, flip all cut out pieces over and place in the matching hole on the opposite side of the cut, so that the flat, unmarked side faces up and is flush with the board.
Basically, any piece that is a left hand gets flipped and placed in a right hand hole. This allows for the negative space of the board to act as a pre-aligned flip jig.
Engrave/cut the purple and blue layers.
Assemble as shown, using CA glue for adhesion.
Magnet polarity should be hand based when inserting the magnets, if that makes sense.
The magnets in one hand should have one polarity facing up, and the other hand the opposite.
Once assembled and functionality confirmed, a little 220 grit sandpaper, a light touch, and some hemp oil is how I usually finish them. The keychain parts I used can be found by searching “lobster claw swivel clasp”. The ones I used did not include the jump ring, but many options do. The jump ring I used can be found by searching “1/2 inch jump ring”.
