Simple shadow display for Halloween using cardboard and cardstock. Each successive layer adds depth to the project. Fun craft for kids to assemble at a Halloween party.
Begin by selecting a stamp from the left panel. I wanted a shape slightly wider and shorter than the stock image. I unlocked the aspect ratio on the right side, and modified the size to my preference. Then select the outline tool on the right side panel, and select the desired thickness. Use the edit compound vector function to select and delete any undesired objects within the background.
Once you have the base layer created, copy the entire project to second canvas. Then, insert the desired shapes using the shape tool on the left panel. Resize the shape to desired size. Use the Combine-Subtract tool on the right side to melt the shape to the outline.
Open a new canvas, and repeat the same procedure for each desired layer. I renamed each canvas to help me keep things organized.
Note: The thicker your material, the greater dimension your final project will have. Since I chose to use cardstock, I decided to insert a piece of cardboard between each layer to create a little more separation. To do this, I made a separate layer that just included the outline of the pumpkin, without any additional images melded to it.
I forgot to take a picture while these were cutting on the machine, but this is what they looked like as I prepared to assemble the project.
Prior to cutting, you may want to try a test piece to make sure you have the speed and power settings dialed in for your particular material.
Beginning with the base layer, glue each successive layer in place. I chose a glue stick for this project, because it was only made with cardstock. If I chose a heavier material, I would have selected a stronger glue.
