Halloween is fast approaching and you might be looking for some fun ways to stand out or make unique gifts for friends and family. These ghost and spider ear rings are a quick little project that is perfect for both beginner and experienced creators.
Lasers can cut a wide variety of materials so choosing the perfect one for your project isn't easy.
The ear rings pictured are made from 4mm cherry plywood and 1.6mm laminated acrylic, I will include the processing settings for both of these in the next steps.
These are the settings I used to make the spider ear ring pictured using 4mm cherry plywood.
Most 3-4mm plywoods or MDF should cut perfectly with these settings using a 5w laser and the number of passes can be lowered for more powerful laser modules.
The ghost ear ring is cut from 1.6mm laminated acrylic. This material consists of black acrylic with a white micro layer that is easily engraved away by the laser.
Diode lasers usually can not cut white material, but the layer of white is so thin that you can use the same setting you usually use to cut black acrylic with no problems.
If you do not have laminated acrylic available, the file can still be used to engrave on any other materials.
Now that your ear rings are cut, you will need some ear ring hooks and jump rings to complete the project.
You will find these readily available on websites like Amazon, eBay, or in local craft stores.
