For this client, I needed to product an image with a little more colour. Using some settings kindly shared by other users I highlighted some parts with a slightly blue tint (the wording at the top) and then picked out the highlights, the Y in the Name and the bottom wording in gold.
The first thing to do is to tell XCS that you are using a stone coaster on the baseplate or conveyor belt.
The second step is where you add your vector image and/or text. It needs to be an image you can slit into its component parts. You may need to select the image and then click on ungroup.
Once you have the component parts it's a simple case of selecting the parts you wish to highlight in gold and setting the laser to the following:
IR laser
Power 15
Speed 10
Lines per inch 100
Bi-Directional
Frequency 30
This should give you a light gold colour to the selected parts of the image.
(tip) I always thoroughly wipe the surface of the slate with a microfibre cloth. This removes any dust and any loose bits of slate. If you don't do this you may find spotty areas on you image if you wipe it afterwards.
If you are using the slate as a coast I recommend a matt acrylic spray coating to protect the surface. A couple of lightly sprayed coats will seal the slate nicely for hot use.
