When all the grand babies are around it is ice cream time and this makes things so much easier to serve a few orders at one time.....
Step 1) The first thing to do for this project is to create a circle approx. 9" in size then after measuring the ice cream cones another circle is made but this time it is sized to 39mm in size. This hole will be for the cones to fit in so several were needed. In order to make the circles spaced out properly the array feature was used to complete that task.
Step 2) in this step handles were created, this was done by creating an oval from the insert button, the oval was placed just overlapping the main circle. A second one was created by copy and pasting. it was place opposite the first one. Now that these ovals were in place the unite feature was used to make all of it one piece.
Step 3) Now holes for these handles were needed, again smaller ovals were created the same way the first one were and also copied and pasted and placed within the larger ovals. these will be cut out. Once this was complete I grouped the entire large circle with the handles now made.
Step 4) Now the inner holes for the cones themselves, the circular array created earlier is now placed within the large circle, it is centered using the align tool with horizontal and vertical selected.
Step 5) Now that all of the main tray is ready it was time to create some feet, this was done using the shape list and selecting the half moon shape, it was sized according to the main size with a height of 2 inches. there is 4 needed so the copy and paste came in handy.
Step 6) Now a graphic was added that was designed in different software, I simply added it from the image button and grabbed it from my computer, this was sized to be placed in the center of everything and was adjusted to be engraved with the following settings. Then it was off to the laser machine.
Step 7) Once the laser was finished cutting the pieces, the parts were lightly sanded and cleaned then a food safe sealer was added. The 4 feet were wood glued in a square formation on the bottom side to raise the tray high enough to hold up to 6 cones with a space for napkins.....
