I had a request to make a money box to hold bank notes as well as coins and the final product turned out pretty good for a first attempt prototype. To make this money box you will meed at least 4 sheets of A4 (200x300mm) 4mm thick material and some wood glue.
The black layer in the design file is the engraving layer, this layer can easily be deleted to add your own design if McLaren Formula 1 isn't to your tastes.
Simply select the black layer in the bottom left corner of XCS and select delete, then add your own images or text.
These are the setting I used for cutting and engraving 4mm MDF using the xTool D1 Pro 5w later. It took around 90 minutes to complete the project using these settings.
Assembly can be a little confusing with parts that look similar to each other but shouldn't take long once everything is in the right order.
Start with the 4 side pieces. These should easily slot together into a rectangle and can be glued to add strength if needed.
Next, slot the rectangle you just made into the back plate, this is the largest solid rectangular part.
The three layers for the front frame will need to be glued together then slotted onto the rectangular frame you made earlier.
You should now only be left with the engraved piece that should slide into the slot from the top. If this is too tight, the back of the engraved piece can be sanded to slightly reduce the thickness.
