This is a tumbler I thought of when I was researching what people like to put in their tumbler. I found that it all depends on their mood so that is where "Mood Juice" came from
To find out how big you want the design, you should measure the length of the tumbler surface you want to engrave on. In this case my tumbler was about 100mm tall on the printable surface I wanted. So I based the design on that.
Like always with my designs, I like to put a box to represent the area I want to print in. This helps visualize everything. I made a square
The lettering is easy once you know what you want it to say. My tip is to make each text block its own thing. This way you can play around with fonts and spacing and it makes the design a lot easier to manage. I had these swirls in an svg file so I added them to embellish the design.
I also made sure that once I was done I aligned everything to make it all look symmetrical. In this case you would want to align Vertically.
In this case because I of the orientation of my tumbler I needed to rotate the design 180 degrees
Xtool makes it easy in XCS to change to your rotary. You just plug in the rotary where the Y axis goes and choose the option for use rotary attachment. It will also give you the option of using a chuck or roller. I only have the RA Pro so I will be using the roller.
You want to make sure that the tumbler is centered on the rotary and that the surface you want to engrave is as level as possible. This makes it easier for the design to turn out good. Also set your laser distance from the highest point, which should be the center.
When you do tumblers a lot you get used to the designs and how to use them. But on every new design I will take and put blue painters tape over a tumbler surface I want to engrave. Once I do that I Choose the design and make it a score. I turn the power down and run the laser. This gives me an outline of the design and what it would look like so I have an idea. If I like the design I continue to the next step. If not I tweak it to fit my liking and repeat this step until I am satisfied.
When burning. Make sure of the alignment by framing the design and check that only what you what you want to burn is is going to burn. I used the xtool recommended settings on this as I have never used my 40w to do a tumbler. I usually use the 10W module.
Before filling it, make sure that you clean it well. I like to use some LA's totally awesome cleaner with it but soap and water work well.
Make sure you fill up the cup with whatever puts you in a good mood.
