Step1: Prepare the Image for Engraving

Preview

Open the highland cow image into the Creative Space software.  If you want to make adjustments to it use the “Adjustment” tool and play with the slider bars until you get the effect you like.

From the “materials” menu select 3mm basswood.

This image is a bitmap so you will need to make some additional setting choices.  Click on the image and select “Engrave” I've chosen Power 100, Speed 80, 1 pass, Bitmap mode: Jarvis, and Lines per cm 200.

Bamboo consists of various colors so trying to get a consistent color across the board is challenging.

Step2: Add Text
Preview

Select the “text” tool and type your text.  If you want to curve it click and hold the “curve text icon” shown in the picture.

The text will be a “vector” not a “bitmap” so you will have to assign the parameters.  Click the text, choose “Engrave” and select the parameters.  Power 100, Speed 80, 1 Pass, Lines per cm 200.

Step3: Prepare for the Laser

Place the cutting board onto the laser bed so that red dot hits it.  Perform the auto measure.

Place the image and text onto the board.  Perform the “Framing" and send to the laser for processing.

Step4: Finishing Touches

Remove the board from the machine, and wipe down with a soft cloth.  Decorate and display your hard work.
