"Teaching Is My Jam” Acrylic Keychain

Show off your love for teaching with this unique “Teaching Is My Jam” Acrylic Keychain. Designed for teachers who inspire, educate, and make a difference, this fun and colorful keychain is a great way to keep your keys organized while celebrating your profession. A thoughtful gift for any educator!
Prepare the Materials: Gather the following materials for your keychain project:
- 3mm Acrylic (for keychain base)
- Black Acrylic Paint and Brush
- Keychain (ring and chain)
- Permanent Marker (any color)
Download and open the file in xTool Creative Space.
If you have an M1 machine and want to use a light-colored acrylic, it’s best to start by painting the acrylic with black acrylic paint for the machine to be able to engrave and cut your project.
Apply Black Paint: Paint one side of the acrylic with black acrylic paint. You can use a brush, a piece of cloth, or even your finger. (I couldn’t find a brush and ended up painting it with my finger, which worked just fine.)
Allow to Dry: Let the paint dry completely before proceeding to the next step.
Before proceeding, use the framing function in xTool Creative Space to visualize how the design will appear on the acrylic. This step confirms the accuracy of the placement of the design.
Process your project.
Use Permanent Marker to Paint the Text:
- Carefully trace over the engraved or etched text on the acrylic using a permanent marker. This will enhance the visibility and definition of the text, making it stand out more prominently.
- Allow the ink to dry completely to prevent any smudging or smearing.
- As you can see, I only painted my text, and left the mason jar engraved.
Clean the Keychain:
- Use a soft cloth or wet wipe to gently clean the surface of the keychain.
- At first, I tried using a wet wipe with water and soap, but it didn’t work very well.
- I found that using a Magic Eraser was much more effective.
- If necessary, use a small amount of rubbing alcohol on the cloth to clean any stubborn paint.
Attach the Keychain Ring: Thread the keychain ring through the hole. Ensure it is securely attached and can rotate freely.
Your personalized keychain is now ready to use! Attach it to your keys, bag, or give it as a special gift to a teacher who inspires you!
