Plant markers can be very useful in the garden but there are so many different pants and one design isn't right for all of them. So, I have made three designs and this how-to guide will tell you how to design your own custom versions for different plants.
The design file contains three ready made examples but you can easily make your own custom versions by following this guide.
The first rectangular sign in the file can be engraved with any text, image or even wrote on with pen. There are also designs for tomato and carrot and a blank rectangle and triangle you can use to make new designs.
If yo are making a new design, start by selecting the purple layer and use the unite tool to combine the two shapes together
Then, find an image online of the plant you are making the marker for. You will need to position the image at the top of the shape on the purple layer and use the outline feature set to around 3mm.
Once you have the outline of the image, select this and the purple cutline and use the unite tool again to join the shapes together.
These are the settings used to cut 4mm wood using the xTool D1 Pro 5w laser.
The above settings are for engraving the plant images.
Now that your marker signs are made you might want to add some varnish or lacquer or protect them. If you have made any blank markers, you will also want to write your custom message using marker pen.
