Step1: Measure the area

I had to measure the area of the easel to know what boundaries I needed to put.

Step2: Make a box

In XCS create a square using the rectangle function. Also to get the exact size, you might need to uncheck the unlock ratio box on the right side of the screen. Once you have the shape correct you can lock it again. This rectangle is important and will serve as a template to put our design and help us place it correctly on the material.

Step3: Create the Design

When coming up with a design, I always try to think of things that would appeal to me or that I would like to have. Sometimes I just want to do something funny. I have had these easels for a long time and just didn't know what to do with them. I finally thought of those to do lists that people have around their house and thought of this summer themed one. Who wouldn't want to just relax have a margarita and get tan. I used the Caveat font for this. I also made sure I centered the design in the box and left some room at the bottom. You will see why at the end. I used some settings I knew would give me a light pass. I could always run over it again if I thought it was too light.

Step4: Remove the box

I chose to remove the box. You can also change it to where it doesn't output the box but I wanted a cleaner look on my design. I have forgot a few times as well to unselect the output and it has messed up some projects. So for me it is better to just remove it.

Step5: Create embellishments

I had this SVG of some palm trees so I decided to put them as embellishments at the bottom to give a more summer feel to the project. So I added it to the the space and copied and flipped the one around. This made a mirror image. I originally had a hammock in the middle but it was too fragile and broke so, I removed it from the design.  It looks cleaner this way anyways.

I just used a scrap piece of 3mm plywood I had around and cut it out of that.

Step6: Enjoy your work!

Glue the embellishments on and then you are done. You could paint the trees or leave them plain. I chose to leave them plain because it goes better in my opinion.

Thanks for following and downloading the project.
