Dehydrated To The Bone

The tumblers are very small and as such I had to keep that in mind when designing. To start I typed the phrase that I wanted on the tumbler, selected a font and split it into 2 lines to fill the upper portion of the cup. Next I uploaded bone clipart, used the image editing tools in XCS to remove the background and traced the image so it would engrave nicely. I centered the text and bone to make it look aligned.

Next it was time to load the material. I chose to use the chuck on the RA2 pro because the cup was uneven. Once loaded into the rotary attachment I positioned the tumbler in the laser bed such that the red dot fell on the highest point of the cylinder. Then I went back to XCS and entered the size of the tumbler and distance. After that I used the close shot feature to see the area well. I rotated the design to align with the tumbler and scaled it so that it fit. Once it was all set I made sure that everything was set to engrave.

Then I hit process and the preview showed the design and that it takes around 11 minutes to process. Everything looked great so I hit go and went over to my P2 hit the button and watched it engrave.

Once it was finished I unloaded it from the machine. There is just one last thing do do before it is finished! It is important to clean the cup using an alcohol wipe to get rid of any residues left from the powder paint. 

Now the mini tumbler is done and you can out the lid and straw back on and enjoy it!
