Step 1) Starting with an empty work area, an image is brought in from the image button this image was stored on the computer. Once the image is in the work area it is outlined using the outline feature. An offset size can be chosen so this size is what you will want. Once it is outlined move the original image away from the out line. Now that they are away from each other select to un-lock the size ratio of the outline.

Step 2) Now enlarge the outline even bigger than it originally was, focusing to making the outline taller than before, slide the image back so you can see the difference. Now go to the shape button and add a oval shape to the work area. this will get resized to fit along the bottom of the outline.

Step 3) Now that you have the new shape in place go to the combine feature and select unite, this will make it all go together as one., this can be left just like it is or if you want even more area below the outline to the steps again and add yet another oval and repeat the steps with the combine and unite buttons to result in a much larger area to make messages.

Step 4) With the added area attached lettering can be added to the outline, now XCS software does not do curved text at this time but with a little fiddling you can achieve curved text by adding each letter at a time and positioning it accordingly. Once this is all done set up to have all the setting adjusted.
