If you need a way to remember that special trip to NYC then this frame might be your perfect next project. Designed to hold a 50mm square photo and made using cherry plywood this picture frame is great to display on a desk or small shelf.
This design includes iconic NYC landmarks and is a great way to remember a trip or special memory.
I made the frame back plate from 4mm MDF and the front from 4mm cherry plywood but these materials can be changed to give the frame a different look.
For the acrylic to cover the picture you will need to purchase the correct size or use an alternate cutting method, such as knife or saw, as most lasers can not cut clear material.
These are the settings used to cut 4mm MDF and 4mm cherry plywood using the xTool D1 Pro 5w laser.
These engraving settings can be adjusted to make the engraving lighter or darker depending on personal preference.
You will require wood glue to assemble this frame.
Start by placing the front engraved piece face down and apply a line of about 5mm from the edge on all four sides.
Then, align the rear frame part on top and press down firmly.
Next all you need to do is inert the clear acrylic panel and you photograph and the back piece of the frame.
You can also add a picture hanging hood if you plan to mount the frame. These can be found online by searching for ‘picture frame making kit’ or ‘frame hanging brackets’.
