Sunscreen is vital for skin protection. This project aims to create a compact holder that accommodates a sunscreen bottle and a makeup brush for easy application.
Before you being this project study the image above to familiarize yourself with the parts for this project. I have made the bottom three layers and the top two layers to add some thickness to the frame. I have labeled the parts for the bottom, top, and sides. As you can see, the sides will fit into a dado that is cut into the top and bottom layers.
Feel free to edit the front part. You can omit this or add your customizations. I have made it the width of the whole stand, but you can play around with whatever dimensions you like. It just sticks to the front and does not add to the stability of the box.
The settings are for the D1 5W laser. You may need to adjust the settings for your laser configuration.
Be sure to follow all the safety guidelines for your laser and always wear personal protective equipment when the laser is in operation.
To begin assembly, gather all the bottom parts, together. The part with no holes cut out is the very bottom of the stack and the other two parts will just get stacked on top of it. I am using super glue as an adhesive, but you could use wood glue as well. I just chose super glue because it will set quickly.
Adding glue to the sides that touch, stack and align the parts. Be sure to work quickly because super glue will set fast.
You can also gather the two parts for the top and glue them together as well.
Give these parts a few minutes to cure, and if you are using wood glue you will want to wait about 30 minutes so the glue will be set. enough to keep the parts from moving on you.
The next stage in assembly is to add the sides. Add some glue inside the dado of the bottom piece and then insert one of the sides. Hold the part in place until the glue sets. do this for both sides. If you are using wood glue, you could add a piece of masking table to the bottom and wrap it around the corner to hold the side in the dado.
After adding the sides to the bottom, now you can use the same procedures to attack the top. Try to make sure the box is not leaning to one side (keep it square).
Once the box is fully cured, you can now attach the front. I just put some glue along the front edge of the bottom and held the front on until the glue set.
