The first step in my design was making the shape of the pencil so that I could fit the design onto it.

Now I will design my ruler with small and large dots. The large dots will represent 1 inch, and the small ones will count as 1/10 of an inch. Then, I will duplicate the 1-inch design to fill the whole pencil shape.

Now it's time to use the laser. Make sure that you have it perfectly aligned and frame it so that it fits perfectly. Ensure you also change your settings if you use a different wattage laser, and don't forget your laser safety glasses.
