The layered design creates a depth effect, as if one is peering through trees into a forest. This project serves as an excellent introduction for beginners. It can be crafted using only a single sheet of 12x12x1/8 inch basswood plywood.
Before you transfer the file to your laser, you may need to adjust the dimensions of the design to fit your workpiece. Simply select ach part and use the H and W properties to adjust.
After the job is complete on the laser, separate the parts from the 3mm basswood material. You may need to use a knife to cut the wood all the way through if there are fibers that remain connected.
Next, use a stain or paint to add color to the design. I chose to stain the top layer. Since the base layer has engravings, it may not work well with a dark stain like i used.
Next, apply a thin layer of glue to the back of the top layer. Don't use much because any excess will result in squeeze out. If you get glue squeezing out the sides, just use a damp paper towel or cloth to wipe away the glue while it is still wet.
Using a weight to apply even pressure to the parts, let the glue cure over at least one hour.
