Holiday Wreath Hats

• Set up- secure hat to jig. I made a jig that I place on the slats. There are multiple ways to secure your hat so research the best option for you. 
• Be sure the brim is flat as possible and there is a firm surface under it and the top of the hat is below the brim. See photo.
•  If using a large brim hat on a P2S you will need to engrave one side of the hat at one time. Choose a good place to split the design.  Engrave the first side and then rotate the hat and the image to engrave the other side. 
• Before engraving size, the image to fit your hat.
• Double check the height setting.  I usually set the height a little higher than measured to avoid the laser snagging the hat. 
• Watch and listen to the laser while it is running, if you see anything shift or if it sounds different you will want to pause the laser immediately.  Sometimes you just need to add a little tape to better secure the hat better.

Choose an owl or poinsettia for embellishment

Engrave and cut.

Add a hat band of your choice and you can add other embellishments too.

Also I cut out acrylic centers for the poinsettias on hats posted, It's a personal choice.

Use acrylic or oil-based paint markers, 2 coats are needed to better saturate the color.
