Information
If you need something unique to make your book shelf more interesting then this bookend might be your perfect next project.

I used it to store video game boxes but it could be used for anything on a shelf or bookcase.

Step1: Design
Preview

To make this design I started with a fairy image that I found online then used the trace image tool in XCS to create a vector outline. Then, I used the edit node tool to  refine and adjust the design.

Once I was happy with the design, I added the rectangles to attach to the larger bookend parts. The size and shape of the two largest rectangle parts can be adjusted to fit your needs but just remember to keep the small cutouts the same size and spacing to allow the parts to slot together without an issue.

Step2: Cutting

4mm material should be used to ensure all parts fit together properly.

The blue layer in the design file should be deleted or set to ignore before starting the cutting process. I left this in the file just in case it is useful for anybody editing or customising the design.

Step3: Assembling

Once the cutting process is complete you should now have three parts that simply slot together. A small amount of glue can be added to the joins to add extra strength if needed.
