Engraving on leather is SO easy and there are tons and tons of fun things we can create with them.
The first step is measuring your patches and creating a design template. I created templates for square, rectangle, oval, and circle patches to get started and then I copied these as many times as needed to make new fun designs.
Use the template to determine how the image will show on the final patch and line up. You'll use this template later for lining up the design to the laser, too.
I've included 6 designs here you can use as a starting place.
Not all patches are created the same.
I think the xTool black to silver patch turned out the nicest but the cheap brown leather patches are also really cute. The pink patch came in a color variety set and gives us more options to choose from but I don't think it engraves as nicely.
Depending on the patch you choose you may need to resize your design, change the power settings, or possible create more templates for odd sizing.
The settings here are going to vary depending on the patch you chose.
For all of these I used the Laserable PU Patch - Black to Silver Settings but I did different amounts of passes.
The actual black to silver patch was done with a single pass and looks great.
The brown leather patches were done with 2 passes and the pink patch had 3 patches (and could maybe have used a 4th).
Be prepared to sacrifice one patch of each color on testing if needed.
I suggest using a little tape to hold them in place since they are so light.
I use these for hats but remember they can go on almost anything.
