In this tutorial I will share how I made this family name sign using only the free XCS software.
The first step is to choose two fonts that you like. It is best if you choose a joined up script font for the family name as this will be easier to cut the name all as one piece instead of individual letters.
The fonts I used are called Dancing Script and Copperplate, if you don't already have these both are available free to download online.
Before cutting you will need to use the ‘weld’ feature in XCS to join the letters together so that the family name cuts as one piece.
The settings needed will vary depending on the material used. I used the above parameters for cutting 3mm black MDF using the 5w xTool D1 Pro.
Now that your letters are cut you will need to choose a background material to mount them to.
I used a spare pice of oak laminate I had from another project, but you could use any kind of plywood, acrylic or veneered wood to achieve your desired look.
