When cooking in the kitchen you often need to convert from one measurement to another as you double recipes, etc. This will make it easy to see at a glance without having to remember all of the conversions.
Determine what measurements you want to use.
In the US some common measurements are teaspoon, tablespoon, ounces, cup, pint, quart, and gallon.
Look up all of your conversions. Google is your friend here, haha.
Create a text box and put your smallest measurement here (mine is TSP).
Use the Grid Array function to replicate it:
- X is your number of columns (how many types of measurements you are using).
- Y is your number of rows (how many levels of conversion you are filling in).
Ungroup your grid.
Use the conversions that you looked up to fill in the text boxes.
Double check your conversions and that they are lined up right. I can't tell you how many of seen that are off a row, haha.
Fill in all of them that you are going to use. If you think some are getting to be not useful (96 teaspoons for example) you can delete that one.
Once you have them all filled in then select each column and align horizontally. Then select each row and align vertically if needed.
Create some thin rectangles and align them between the columns for clear separation.
Add two horizontal rectangles to separate the measurement types.
Add a title at the top, if desired.
Weld any cursive text.
Select all of the objects and combine them. Set this to engrave.
Create a rectangle all around the design. Round the corners to 4. Set this to cut.
You are now ready to engrave and cut your design.
I used the default settings for basswood. I recommend masking the wood so you have less sanding and cleanup needed afterwards.
Engrave and cut your design.
Put a little alcohol on a rag and wipe the edges to remove any sticky residue that's left.
Attach magnets to the back. I used 4 self adhesive magnets at the corners since it's a little heavier.
