Volunteer State (Tennessee) Key Chain

Express your Tennessee pride with this Tennessee shaped keychain. This is a great beginner project and it can easily be resized to fit your preferences.
The primary shape of the keychain is the state of Tennessee, To create this, I imported the shape of the state and then used the image trace tool to create a vector of the shape of the state
I then created a cut path for the shape by using the outline tool.
Tip: To maintain the small details of the shape, do an outline while the shape is larger, then scale it down to size.
With the outline created, I then scaled the design down to be about 3 inches long.
Next, I added a circle to the canvas. I sized it to about .25 inches and then made it more of an oval. I used the combine tool to unite the circle to the outline vector.
I then added another smaller circle to cut out the hole.
The settings are for the D1 5W laser. You may need to adjust the settings for your laser configuration.
Be sure to follow all the safety guidelines for your laser and always wear personal protective equipment when the laser is in operation.
The next step is to assemble the keychain by adding a ring. You may want to add a finish or polyurethane coat to protect the piece.
