Use this project to create a box for storing all of your sewing supplies.
In this project, we will begin by creating the box using the free site Boxes.py CardBox - Boxes (hackerspace-bamberg.de)
I am using the template for a card box as it has a lid and sections. I measured the supplies I wanted to put in the box to make sure I space the sections correctly.
I next imported the design into XCS. The complete design will not fit in the workspace of the D1, so I moved some parts to different canvases. Space them accordingly for your material.
There is a wide selection of art and designs in XCS. I added in some patterns and used the array tool to replicate them and cover some of the panels.
I also added in text and images to personalize the box.
This project uses all three processing types. The settings are for the D1 5W laser. You may need to adjust the settings for your laser configuration.
Be sure to follow all the safety guidelines for your laser and always wear personal protective equipment when the laser is in operation.
Next it is good to go through and dry fit the box. This means assembling the box without any glue. This helps to ensure you know where all parts go and that they fit properly. I use both super glue and wood glue for assembly.
I used super glue for the small ledges that are used to hold the lid in track and the ledge on the lid. I used wood glue on the main box joints. Be sure to cover the joints well.
Use a wet paper towel to remove any glue that squeezes out.
