A gift for a newborn baby. The theme is "The Little Prince" by St Exupéry. The first name and date of birth appear on the woodcut, a cloud and stars.

Un cadeaux pour un bébé qui vient de naitre. Le thème est "Le Petit Prince" de St Exupéry. Le prénom et la date de naissance apparaissent sur la gravure sur bois, un nuage et des étoiles.
The difficulty is that the name "Léon", is enlarged with the function "Outline" and is superimposed on the image of the cloud. In order to cut out the whole outline without cutting out the whole name, it is necessary to draw a vector outline which includes the name (but not entirely), parts of the stars and also the whole cloud. This being difficult* in the Xtool Creative Space software, I had to go to another software NanoCad (free license in 2D).
*= Now it is possible with “Combine” function of Xtool Creative Space software!
Once the vector outline was drawn, I imported it into Xtool Creative Space via a .DXF export file.
Then, I deleted the original cloud image, to replace it by the cloud vector outline.
Before proceeding with the engraving, I coated the plywood board with white wax and rotated it to give the cloud a relief effect. It's not too visible on the pictures, but it gives a relief effect and it whitens the wood of the plywood which is a little yellow.

La difficulté est que le nom "Léon", est élargi avec la fonction "Outline" et se superpose à l'image du nuage. Pour ensuite découper tout le contour sans découpe tout le nom, il est nécessaire de dessiner un contour vectoriel qui englobe le nom (mais pas entièrement), des partie des étoiles et aussi tout le nuage. Ceci étant difficile* dans le logiciel Xtool Creative Space, j'ai dû aller dans un autre logiciel NanoCad (licence gratuite en 2 D).
*= Maintenant c'est possible avec la fonction “Combine” du logiciel Xtool Creative Space !
Une fois le contour vectoriel dessiné, je l'ai importé dans Xtool Creative Space via un fichier export .DXF.
Ensuite, j'ai supprimer l'image du nuage d'origine, pour la remplacer par le contour vectoriel en forme de nuage.
Avant de procéder de gravure, j'ai enduit la planche de contreplaqué de cire blanche à céruser en effectuant des rotations pour donner un effet de relief au nuage. Ce n'est pas trop visible sur les photos, mais ça donne un effet de relief et ça blanchit le bois du contreplaqué qui est un peu jaune.
