Before I started with the design, I first measured a standard coaster and then transferred this shape to the 3D drawing program (Sketchup Make). Now you have many options for designing a coaster holder. My idea was not to simply place the coasters on top of each other, as is perhaps usual, but I wanted a special arrangement that ensures that the coasters are also displayed nicely.
That's why I designed the holder in such a way that I can pack 6 identical parts one behind the other, with the orientation then changing direction each time. So there are three coasters behind each other on the right and left.

Then I chose funny sayings on the subject of coffee or tea and added pictures I had drawn myself.

Two of the texts are in English, the other four translate roughly as follows:

1. the early bird can have the worm, I'll have coffee!
2. one coffee without the rest of the day please!
3. today I'll get drunk until I have 2.5 chamomile.
4 I let the good mood tea steep for 8 minutes instead of 4. I'm really escalating today!

In the next step, after exporting the DXF (and importing it into Xtool) of the created coaster holder, I added the individual drawn images. As shown in the picture, I try to leave enough margin to the cutting edge. With the above settings, I then engrave the whole thing and cut the holder!

Assembly is fairly simple. You can arrange the parts that are to hold your coaster in any order. For this reason I have not included the connecting piece in the XCS file, you can extend it yourself as you wish. 

If you want to work with exactly 6 coasters, you can simply use the stored DXF file coaster square and cut it with the cutting settings from above. 

The individual coaster holders and, of course, the front and back are then pushed onto this. If necessary, superglue can also help here.

For example, if you only want 4 coasters or perhaps 8, you can shorten or lengthen the rectangle by 6mm.
