This is a unique version of a box lantern with a triangular shape and a design that looks like the silhouette of tree branches when the light is turned on.
The first decision to make is what material to use to make this lamp. I used 4mm MDF but any wood or acrylic will work for this design as long as it is 4mm thick.
When it comes to choosing a light source, I’d recommend using some small battery powered string lights or fairly light. These will be able to be inserted and removed through the small cutouts in the wood without disassembling the lamp.
You could also use electric candles but these would be permanently stuck inside the lamp once assembled.
To cut this design I used 2 sheets of 4mm thick 200x300mm MDF. Always remember to use the framing function before starting the cutting process to ensure the design fits and avoid wasting material.
The assembly process for this lamp is straightforward and only requires a small amount of glue to hold everything together.
Start by glueing one of the three sides to the triangular top and bottom sections and then repeat the process for the other two sides.
Remember if your light is larger than the cutout sections you will need to insert it before glueing the final side into place.
