Information
I have had several projects that I wish I had added some color to the design. Just a little color can really make the project pop. I recently experimented with the idea of using painter's tape and the score process to create stencils on the project piece. In this How-to I'll show you what I learned so that you can incorporate this technique in your next project.

Instruction
1
Step1: Set up the project.

On your project, simply set up the vector you want to fill with paint with a score process type.  I found that the settings of 100% and 12 mm/s works well enough to score through the painters tape.

2
Step2: Mask the work Piece.

The next task is to add a layer of tape to the work piece.  Be careful to not overlap the tape as this will add to the thickness of the tape.  Also make sure you cover the area that will be painted.

Step3: Cut and remove inner layer of tape

Next run the job on your laser.  You can go ahead and remove the design from the stock.  For this project I just cut out the number 14.

Step4: Remove tape

Now, using a sharp knife, remove the tape from the area that was scored and prepare for painting.

Step5: Paint

No add as much paint as needed to cover the material.  Some materials may soak up the paint.  Also be careful to not push the paint into the edge of the tape as it may lift the edge of the tape.

Step6: Dry and remove tape

Finally,  Remove the tape once the paint has dried.
