Celebrate a big victory with this first place trophy.
To begin this project, I imported the design and used the outline tool to outline the SVG. I will use this outline to cut out the design.
Next, I used the trapezoid shape from the built-in shapes in the XCS application to add a flat base to the design. I will use this to secure it to a larger base.
The next task is to add in the numbering to designate the finishing rank. This will be a first place trophy., so I am adding simply “1st”
Next, I wanted to place the 1st place to the top left of the design. To support it, select both he outline of the motocross bike and the 1st. I used the combine tool to unite the two.
The settings are for the D1 5W laser. You may need to adjust the settings for your laser configuration.
Be sure to follow all the safety guidelines for your laser and always wear personal protective equipment when the laser is in operation.
Finally, I cut a small block for the base, and since I am working with 1/8 inch plywood, I simply made a ¼ inch deep kerf with the table saw (which is 1/8 inch wide). This make a perfect groove for holding the trophy design.
To add contrast, I applied a stain to the base.
