Step1: Download and process

After downloading the file double check that settings work for your machine. The settings I am using, I have found work best on my D1 pro 20w. I like to burn the engravings in deep so that detail is not lost while sanding. Once you are ready, process, sit back, and relax while you wait.

Step2: Set aside little semi circles

There are two little semi circle pieces that you will need later, so put them in a safe place so that they are not lost.

3
Step3: Sand and stain

Next grab the rest of the pieces and sand them lightly with a high grit paper to get any burn marks from the cutting process. Make sure not to sand too deeply, so you maintain the detail. Then after clearing any dust choose a stain of your liking and stain them. I find a lighter stain makes it easier to read. Then set them aside to dry.

Step4: Glue middle panel and small semi circles to the bottom panel

Once the stain is dry you can begin gluing. Start by applying glue to the middle panel(the one shaped like a square U). spread it evenly to limit the amount of glue that will squeeze out during clamping.  Place the middle panel glue side down on top of the bottom panel(one with the oval shape cut out). Once it is placed now take out the semi circle pieces. Apply glue to the flat side of the semi circle pieces and place them on the bottom panel touching the long edge of the middle panel and approximately a quarter inch away from the shorter sides of the middle panel. Refer to the photo above to see if placement is correct.  Next clamp the bottom and middle pieces together. I find it helps to clamp them to a flat surface to get out any bends in the wood.

Step5: Glue the top panel to the middle panel

Once the middle panel and bottom panel's glue has dried, apply glue to the exposed side of the middle panel. Then place the top panel(one with a small slit in it) on the middle panel. Clamp them together and let them dry.

Once all three panels have dried from gluing, take a breath because you are on the final step! Grab the trophy piece and apply glue to the small tab on the bottom. Place tab into the slot on the top of the gift card holder, making sure that the opening in the card holder in facing the same direction as the text on the trophy. I found the easiest way to let it dry is to set the trophy on a flat surface with the gift card holder hanging off the side. I take a square to make sure it is positioned correctly before leaving it to do it's thing.  Once it is dry I would suggest testing to see that the specific gift card you have in mind fits well. If you find that it is difficult to insert then you can wrap another card in sand paper and run it in and out a couple of times until the fitment is better. You want it to fit tightly so that the card doesn't slip out but not too tight so that it it difficult to retrieve. Hope these how to instructions help.
