Information
Great Beginner Basic Tutorial
We are going to scour the Xtool Library of Shapes and make them into some great custom Earrings!!
We don't need to know how to draw anything other than a CIRCLE!
Instruction
1
Step1: Choosing a Shape
Preview
Let's pick out our shape from XCS's stock.
Located on the left side Vertical Tool Bar you'll find the shape tab.
Here you can choose from a variety of categories.
Basic Shape
Border
Plant
Animal
Festival
Pattern
Parts
Other
I'm going to go with Animal
Razorback! such a cute little critter.

Step2: Sizing for the Perfect Earring
Preview
There is a vast variety of earring sizes.
And a few ways we can orientate the final product.
Could hang from his back, Snout, or rear
I picked the Rear!
So I think a good length would be 2 inches.
Just set your width to 2 inches. We can reorientate later.
Now that we have our size, let's add a hole for the jump rings.
I like to use 1/16" - 3/32" size holes

Step3: Let's add the Hole for the Jump Ring
Preview
Wherever you decide on placing your hole just make sure to leave enough room for strength.
I usually use the circle as a offset guide from the edge.
If your at least that far from the edge your hole should hold up
I made a 1/16" Hole and placed in at the rear.

Step4: Adding Cut Profile for Outside Shape

Preview
Currently when selecting outline on the stock images, and choose to ignore the interior for bitmap. You still get the interior lines.
To get around this we can select the vector and Edit Compound Vector
Next we will select the outermost layer (background)
Press CRTL C to copy
Press CTRL V to paste
Move copy to the side
Next to separate these we are going to need to select the compound vector.
Release it.
Now Select original and Make it a Compound Layer
Hopefully in a future update this is resolved.
Select the copied background and set to cut.
Set Layer to Red to keep things easy
To restack them select both objects and align horizontally/vertically.

Step5: Make the Other Earring
Preview
Simplest step of them all!
Now let's make a copy
CTRL C
And Paste it to the canvas
CTRL V
Now reflect it horizontally to get a pair of symmetrical earrings.
6
Step6: Let's CUT IT!

Time to CUT!!!!
Cut time is 4:20

Step7: We Can Do Better Than That!

For an even more unique pair of earrings let's make them double sided!
To do this we need to turn off the cut layer in XCS
This is why we added the Outline and The Circle to the Red layer earlier!
Just click the red layer with the layer toolbar opened.
Now turn the input to off
Let's remove our Earrings from the material sheet without moving it!
I like to use a shop vac to suuuuck it right up.
Now flip them over and place in the opposite holes they were taken from to expose the rear bare surface.
Process the engraving only.
Process time is 3:46 without the cuts
Wow those are looking nice!
I decided the first sides engraving wasn't dark enough due to the paint layer already on the material. So I flipped them again and ran a 2nd pass to darken up the lines.
You be the judge to determine if I made a good choice.
I think it's much better now.

Step8: Adding some color

There are a variety of ways to finish your material
Stain
Paint
Markers
Alcohol Inks
Etc.
I'm going to Paint them Red, well Because I have clients down in Arkansas so I'm sure they will appreciate it.
