Instruction

Step1: Create Design

Whatever you want to make as a suncatcher make sure its more drawed in a coloring book look. You need outlines to create the gaps for the sun to shine through.

  1. Create your design
  2. Import to XCS (optional)
  3. Select your design add Outline to create more reflective part for suncatcher / I used 6mm.
2
Step2: Uploaded File usage

When you want to use my file there are layers and different colors each with names.

Make sure to cut the yellow one first and disable for this cut the red ones. You can do it by clicking on the layers tab on “Transparent” and then in the right panel disable the Output.

Change Vinyl and do same steps only that “Transparent” should be green Output and Opaque should be disabled.

And yes cut on BOTH the triangles. These are for better alignment when assambling.

Step3: Settings for cutting

Depending on your vinyl you need to change settings.

My holographic one is a thicker material then the transparent one. But worked fine with same settings.

Step4: Assambly 1 - Weeding Vinyl

At first I cut all 3 butterflies to separate pieces to make weeding a lot easier. Make sure you don't forget the assigned triangle. Start with the outline design:

  1. Get rid of the outer part of design
  2. Start to weed out the inner parts. Easiest is to use a sharp weeding tool and going from the smallest corner to your body.
  3. Check if you vinyl has a protective film on top, if yes get rid of it.

For transparent design, you only need to get rid of the outer part.

Step5: Assambly 2 - Layering

  1. Get transfer foil and cut sheets for your design
  2. Start by transfer the transparent vinyl, use scraper to make it stick to the foil
  3. Turn around and remove backing of the Vinyl sheet
  4. Now get the Outline design and place the design in front of you with the triangle
  5. Align foil based on the triangles. Make them fit as closely as you can and then slowly pull over the complete design
  6. Again use a scraper to make it stick together and remove backside of vinyl sheet

Only whats left is to place it on you window or wherever you want.
