Lattice Pattern Generator Beginner’s Guide

A hollow lattice pattern generator: choose a style → adjust parameters → export cutting files for laser cutting / CNC machining.

Get Started in 3 Steps

Choose a pattern from the left panel — Select from 14 pattern thumbnails. Click any style to switch instantly (Hexagon, Brick, Herringbone, Circle Grid, etc.).

Adjust parameters in the right panel — Use Reset at the top to restore defaults and mm / inch to switch units. Below are the panel dimensions and pattern-specific settings.

Export from the bottom — Select SVG or DXF, then click Export → Download (or Open in Studio to directly open the file in xTool Studio).

Canvas Controls

ActionMethod
ZoomScroll wheel, or use − / + in the bottom-left corner
Fit to windowClick ⤢ in the bottom-left corner (returns to 100%)
PanHold and drag the canvas

A small label in the top-right corner displays the current size and number of cutting contours, for example: 240×170 mm · 60 cuts.

Parameter Details

PANEL (General)

Panel Width / Height — Overall dimensions of the panel material.

Corner Radius — Corner rounding radius; set to 0 for sharp corners.

Border — Width of the outer frame. The pattern is generated only within the inner area.

Pattern-Specific Parameters (Automatically Updated When Switching Patterns)

Strut Width (Critical) — The remaining material width between cut-out areas. Too small values make the structure fragile and easy to break. A value of ≥ 2–3 mm is recommended (use larger values for thinner materials).

Hex Size / Cell Size / Block Size — Size of each pattern unit. Smaller values create denser patterns.

Plank Length / Width — Length and width of strips for woven or herringbone-style patterns.

Orientation / Packing — Pattern direction (Flat / Pointy Top) and arrangement method (Square / Hex).

Parameter fields support two input methods: click to enter a value directly or click and drag left/right for quick adjustments.

Export Details

SVG — Each path includes data-processing-type="VECTOR_CUTTING" and is processed as vector cutting. Units are in mm with 0.1 mm hairline paths.

DXF — A CAD / laser-compatible format containing a CUT layer.

Gold areas = retained material; white areas = hollow cut-out sections.

Common Issues

The export button keeps showing “Exporting...”

This means you are not currently running inside the Atomm platform environment (for example, opening a local address directly). Exporting requires the platform environment — open the generator through the platform preview link or published generator page to download normally.

Half patterns appear at the edges?

This is normal. The pattern is automatically clipped to the inner frame boundary, matching the actual cutting result.

The edges appear cut off when zoomed in?

This is only a viewport cropping effect. The design itself is complete. Drag the canvas to view other areas. Exports always contain the complete panel, regardless of zoom level.

The final piece is too fragile?

Increase Strut Width, or increase the unit size (Hex Size / Cell Size) to reduce pattern density.
