Connected Text — One-Piece Word Sign Generator
Transform any word into a single connected piece ready for laser cutting. Letters automatically overlap and merge into one continuous cut-ready design — perfect for creating wooden name signs, cake toppers, door hangers, gift tags, and more.
Quick Start
Enter your word in the Text box.
Choose a style from the left panel — script fonts naturally flow together, while bold fonts create a strong, chunky one-piece design.
Export your design as SVG or DXF and send it to your laser cutting software. Red lines indicate cut paths.
That’s it — every font starts with optimized settings that automatically connect your text into a single piece.
Parameters
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
| Height | Controls the overall height of the sign. Switch between mm and inch using the toggle in the top-right corner. |
| Letter spacing | Controls the overlap between letters. Use negative values to increase overlap and create stronger connections. |
| Thicken | Adds extra material around the letters to strengthen thin script fonts and connect letters that are close together. |
| Connect | Controls how elements are connected: Letters keeps i/j dots separate · Dots connects dots while keeping letters independent · Dots and letters creates a fully connected one-piece design (default). |
| Mirror | Flips the design horizontally for cutting face-down. |
Tips
Check the badge below the canvas: “... · 1 piece” means the entire design will be cut as a single piece. If multiple pieces appear, follow the on-screen suggestion — usually reducing Letter spacing will help.
The dots on i and j automatically move and merge with the letters, preventing small pieces from falling out after cutting.
For thin script fonts at smaller sizes, add 1–2 mm of Thicken to make the connections stronger and more durable.
Spaces intentionally separate the design into multiple pieces. Remove spaces if you want a single connected piece.
Use Reset anytime to restore recommended default settings (your selected font and units will remain unchanged).
Export
SVG — compatible with most laser cutting software, including xTool XCS and LightBurn.
DXF — ideal for CAD/CAM workflows.
Exported files are true-to-size in millimeters, with 0.1 mm hairline cut paths. Text is fully converted into vector outlines, so no font installation is required on the machine.
