Information

I love having a clean bench but want to have everything in reach. No matter if I want a long black, espresso or a coffee on the go all my cups have the perfect storage solution.
I wanted to create a rattan design on my storage caddy that was all about coffee and love how organic the final design came out. I used Atomm AImake to help me with the rattan pattern and edited the design prior to uniting it with the frame of the storage unit.

📌 Recommended Materials

  • 3 mm plywood
  • 3 mm MDF or MDF Core Plywood (can use plywood but MDF is more solid)

Optional: wood stain or paint to add dimension if not using a stained or veneer plywood.

🧩 Assembly Steps (Detailed Process)

Turn output on only for the selected pieces you are cutting

Cut all parts according to the file layout, auto measure and frame

Make sure you are removing debris after each cut and ensuring no offcuts are sitting in the honeycomb

Clean all edges with white vinegar and microfibres cloth I used a little sanding stick for cleaning a few cuts within the rattan

Apply stain or varnish before final assembly if you haven’t used coloured plywood.

Place all pieces on your workbench ensuring your left and right sides are correct.

Start with the middle rattan dividers and the tall horizontal divider. Place glue with a paint brush inside where the two parts of the frame connect, align carefully and apply pressure.

Continue the same process with a small amount of glue until you have assembled the outside frame of storage unit

🛠️ Optional Tips & Suggestions

You could engrave or cut out a quote on the front frame or add some coffee bean embellishments (see my tiered tray file for these)

I find the Gorilla wood glue works best for these types of projects and it adheres quickly
