This project involved the design and creation of a handcrafted coffee capsule holder using the traditional Tiffany stained glass technique. The objective was to combine functionality with decorative artistry, resulting in a unique piece that enhances both organization and interior aesthetics.
This project was made using the standard Tiffany stained glass technique. First, a design of the coffee capsule holder was created, including the coffee cup motif. The templates for the individual glass pieces were prepared digitally and cut using a Cricut machine to ensure precision and consistency in the shapes.
Each stencil was used to trace the shapes onto colored stained glass. The glass pieces were carefully cut using a glass cutter and then shaped and smoothed with a grinder to ensure they fit together accurately.
After cleaning the glass, copper foil tape was applied around the edges of each piece. The foil was pressed firmly to ensure proper adhesion. The pieces were then arranged according to the design.
Flux was applied to the copper-covered edges, and the pieces were soldered together. First, small tack solder points were made to hold everything in place. After checking the alignment, continuous solder lines were applied along all seams. Both sides were soldered to create a strong and stable structure.
Once the flat panels were completed, they were assembled into the final three-dimensional shape of the capsule holder and soldered along the vertical seams. Reinforcement wire was added where necessary to increase stability.
Finally, the piece was cleaned to remove any flux residue. A patina was applied to the solder lines for a finished look, and the surface was polished.
The result is a functional and decorative coffee capsule holder made using the traditional technique
