Information

The Outln Brew House is a functional coffee-themed storage solution designed to complement the Outln portable espresso maker while keeping coffee supplies organized and accessible. Inspired by the look of a small neighborhood coffee shop, this project combines practical storage with decorative design.

The structure is built from 3mm basswood, providing a lightweight yet durable frame. The colorful storefront exterior was created using xTool’s M1 Ultra Print Module, giving the piece a warm, illustrated coffee-shop appearance. All structural components were precision-cut on the xTool P2s laser cutter.

The removable roof features twelve pod-storage openings designed to hold single-serve coffee pods for quick access. If preferred, the openings can be omitted during assembly, allowing pods to be stored inside the building instead. The interior includes compartmentalized storage space for organizing coffee supplies such as pods, stir sticks, sugar packets, filters, and accessories.

This project blends decorative craftsmanship and practical organization, creating a coffee station that pairs naturally with the Outln espresso maker while bringing a coffee-shop aesthetic to any countertop.

Step1: Gather Materials

The Outln Brew House instruction: step 1 - Gather Materials
Preview

Begin by downloading the two project files from the Atomm website. This project includes one file designed for printing and one file designed for laser cutting and engraving.

Open both files in xTool Studio.

  • The print file is used with the xTool M1 Ultra Print Module to create the colorful storefront panels.
  • The cut/engrave file is used with a laser cutter to produce the structural components of the coffee house.
    • While any compatible laser cutter may be used, this project was cut using the xTool P2s.

Before starting production, gather the required materials:

Materials Needed

  • Six (6) 12” × 12” sheets of 3mm basswood plywood
  • Wood glue
  • Protective finish (clear coat, polyurethane, or preferred wood finish)

Once the files are loaded and materials are ready, you’re set to begin printing and cutting the project components.

Use the xTool M1 Ultra Print Module to add color to the exterior panels of the Coffee Shop.

Load the print file in xTool Studio and print the storefront graphics onto the basswood panels that will form the outside walls of the structure.

If you prefer, the xTool M1 Ultra can both print and laser-cut the parts in a single workflow. However, this project was cut using the xTool P2s CO₂ laser, which significantly reduces cutting time.

If you plan to print with the M1 Ultra and cut using a second laser:

  • Carefully maintain the material orientation
  • Ensure precise alignment of the printed panels before cutting
  • Avoid shifting the material between printing and cutting

Taking time to align the printed panels correctly will ensure the storefront graphics line up perfectly with the final cut pieces.

Begin assembling the outer structure of the Coffee Shop by laying out all cut pieces on your work surface. This will help you understand how the panels align and slot together before permanent assembly.

It is strongly recommended that you dry-fit all components first to confirm proper alignment and orientation. Taking a few minutes here can prevent frustration later — the woodworking equivalent of “measure twice, cut once.”

A helpful technique during this stage is to use painter’s tape to temporarily hold panels together while checking fit and alignment. Painter’s tape acts like a third hand and keeps everything square without damaging the basswood.

Once you are confident that the structure fits together correctly, you can proceed with gluing in the next step.

Next, assemble the interior compartment structure that will hold coffee supplies inside the Coffee Shop.

Lay out all interior pieces and identify how the dividers and panels fit together. As with the exterior structure, it is recommended to dry-fit all components first to ensure proper alignment before applying glue.

Once the compartment assembly is glued and secure, allow it to set briefly. The completed interior unit is designed to slide into the Coffee Shop structure, creating organized storage for coffee supplies.

Take care to keep the compartment assembly square so it slides smoothly into place.

Once both the exterior Coffee Shop structure and the interior compartment unit are fully assembled and dry, slide the interior compartment structure into the Coffee House.

Confirm everything fits securely and sits square within the frame.

Next, apply a protective finish or sealer to the completed project. A clear coat, polyurethane, or your preferred wood finish will help protect the basswood and give the Coffee Shop a polished, finished appearance.

Allow the finish to dry completely according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Finally, place your Coffee House organizer in a convenient spot in your kitchen and pair it with your Outln espresso setup. Fill the compartments with coffee supplies and enjoy your new coffee station.
