Information

Build your own stackable drawer system - just like LEGO blocks!
This starter set includes 3 drawer sizes (1×2, 2×2, 3×2) that connect with stud-and-socket joints.
Stack them in a stair layout, line them up, or combine freely.
Cut from 3mm MDF. Part of the Kumibako modular system with more expansion modules available.

Instruction

Step1: Watch the video guide first

Assembly is the same as the Starter Set — see the image above (Japanese, but visual enough to follow).

Quick summary:

  1. Pop out parts by letter group (A→B→C→D). Don't mix B and C — they look similar!
  2. Small parts first: make the handle (A0→A2) and stud connectors (A3→A4).
  3. Inner drawer box (Parts B): glue marked edges, fold into box.
  4. Outer shell (Parts C): same method. Test-fit before glue dries.
  5. Press stud connectors into top holes. Attach handle to drawer front.
  6. This file contains 2 canvases — one for each drawer size. Switch canvases in XCS to access each size.

Tips: Use wood glue. Let each step dry before proceeding.

Step2: Before You Start

Kumibako Starter Set — LEGO-Style Stackable Modular Drawers (3mm MDF, 3 Sizes) instruction: step 2 - Before You Start
Preview

• Use wood glue for assembly. • Pop out parts by letter group (A, B, C, D) and work step by step. Don't mix B and C parts — they look very similar! • Let each sub-assembly dry well before moving to the next step. • Contains small parts — keep away from young children.

This file contains 3 canvases — one for each drawer size. Switch canvases in XCS to access each size.

3

Step3: Small Parts — Handle & Stud Connectors

Pop out parts by group (A, B, C, D). Don't mix B and C parts — they look similar. Make the handle: A0 → A2. Make stud connectors: A3 → A4 (glue where green lines show). Wipe off excess glue with spatula (A1) or wet tissue — excess causes joint problems later. Let each sub-assembly dry before moving to Step 4.

4

Step4: Inner Drawer Box (Parts B)

Glue the marked edges (● and ▬ marks) and fold into a box. Use glue sparingly — less squeeze-out means a cleaner finish. Note: B1 has a correct orientation. Pay special attention when building 1×1, 2×2, or 3×3 sizes.

5

Step5: Outer Shell (Parts C)

Same method as Step 2 — glue and fold into a box. Test-fit the inner box before glue dries. Wipe off any excess — it will make the drawer stick.

6

Step6: Attach Connectors & Handle

Press stud connectors into the small round holes on top of the outer shell. Attach the handle to the front of the drawer. Done! Stack boxes using the stud-and-socket system. Decorate with paint, crayons, or markers if you like!
