Information

I created this piece by layering wood to achieve the classic egg carton design. You can use this to hold Easter eggs, candy, or use as a desk organizer.

This project uses 3mm walnut plywood, but any 3mm material will work.  Just make sure to adjust your setting if you use a different material.  Purple lines are cut and blue lines are score.  Process your material.  You are going to have a lot of circle pieces, so I recommend organizing them by size to make assembly a little easier.

You are going to start with the solid circles that have a score line.  Glue on the next bigger size ring using the score line as a guide.  Continue with each ring until you have 6 “cups”.  The top ring will not have a score line.  Now, take the next piece that has 6 holes with score lines as shown in the image.  Turn each cup upside down and glue in place using the score marks.  Once that is done, turn it right side up and glue the next 4 pieces in place.  The image shows the order in which you will need to glue them.  They all line up by the hole cutouts.  The top 2 layers look very similar.  The top piece is slightly smaller, so make sure you glue them in the correct order.  Now glue the 4 middle pieces in place with the 2 smaller pieces on top.  They each line up with the hole cutouts as well.

Finish your piece with a clear coat or polyurethane of choice.  You can now fill your egg carton with Easter eggs, candy, or use as an organizer.  Enjoy!
