Laser Cut Wooden Heart Locking Ring Box with Key

There are several pieces that must face the correct way or this will not work.

These four pieces are the top section. Care fully glue the pieces on the right on top of the other two.

I used 3 x 1mm magnets. if you have 1 x 3mm magnets you can use 1 per magnet hole.

I used 12 magnets total.

There are two pieces that contain the lock mechanism. I engraved one side each so they would have room to move inside. The two pieces can be carefully glued together so you can see the engraved side out on both pieces.

 You can see I used clamps to hold these together while it dried.

Glue the pieces together. be careful not to glue the locking area.

I modified the two key half's and didn't get a picture before I glued them.

Just line them up and glue them together.

Put the two magnetic halves together and line up the tabs and insert them carefully into the locking half.

It takes a little effort to get them to separate them when unlocking the heart.

****Put the key in the slot and rotate it CLOCKWISE while pulling the pieces apart.

Remember this is made out of wood and it is fragile. It would be neat to see this in acrylic.
