Information

This Valentine’s project is a small, everyday object made to hold a big feeling.

I created a personalized metal card paired with a simple wooden sleeve — something that can live quietly in a wallet, but speak loudly when it’s needed most. The message on the card is meant to be read during ordinary days, not just special ones — a gentle reminder of why love was chosen in the first place.

I wanted this piece to feel personal, not decorative. Something you don’t hang on a wall, but carry with you. The wood represents warmth and permanence, while the metal card holds words that won’t fade over time.

This project is about love that grows through presence, memory, and reassurance — a reminder that even in silence, love is still there, waiting to be remembered.

How I Made This Project

Step 1
I started by designing the engraving layout in Canva, focusing on a clean and emotional look for the metal card. Once the design felt right, I exported it as an SVG file for engraving.

Step 2
Using the SVG file, I engraved the metal card on both sides, making sure the details stayed sharp and meaningful from every angle.

Step 3
For the holder, I used 3mm birch wood. I engraved and cut the wooden pieces using the xTool M1 Ultra. I kept the default material settings, which were enough to capture all the fine details clearly, as visible in the final result.

Step 4
After cutting and engraving, I carefully joined the wooden pieces using glue and let them rest for about 10–15 minutes. Once set, I lightly polished the surface with sandpaper to give it a smoother, more finished look.

Step 5
Finally, the engraved metal card fits perfectly inside the wooden box — turning the whole piece into a small, meaningful keepsake that can be carried every day.
