Book Wyrm Coin

I have recently been etching coins to learn my F2. This was a fun project and using AIMake, I developed a book reading dragon. Another name for dragon, in the realm of fantasy is Wyrm. So I decided to include a back that played on the phrase “Book Worm”. Keep in mind that this was made using the brass coins from xTool. If you use a different brass coin, or another coin other than this, then the settings will most likely be different and you will have to adjust accordingly.

Be sure to place your coin correctly in your machine. Have it lay flat and use the two dots to line up the correct height of your coin to the machine. 

If using the F2, once you have loaded the plans, place the L shaped guide that came with the F2 on the base plate where you will want the coin. This will help with the placement and allow you to do both sides easily. 

Line up the dragon using the framing function. I like to set the framing to outline as it helps to line this up perfectly. Be sure that the edges of the picture fall just within the borders of the coin all the way around. 

Use the settings above to engrave the dragon side, then flip the coin over, using the L shaped guide to keep it in the same general area. At this point, I select the words that will engrave on the back and move it above and to the left of the dragon. Then I select both the words and the dragon and use the align function at the top. I select Align bottom first and then align right. This will put the words in the exact same spot as the dragon. I then unselect the two items and then select the dragon on the right side of the screen. This will grab just the dragon and allow me to move it off the screen to get it out of the way. Then I use the settings above to engrave the words. If you want the words darker, you can slow the speed down and increase the LPC. 

Again, this was a fun and entertaining project. I love fantasy stuff and this is right up my alley. I hope to make more in the future.
